While I twiddle my thumbs waiting for my copy of The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrún to arrive, please to enjoy a cartoon from the reliably oddball Dan Piraro. I wonder at what age Vikings get their learner’s permit? :)

LOL! I haven't ordered Sigurd and Gudrún yet. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the cartoon. I’ve been reading Bizarro since the 80’s, and I met Dan Piraro once. Nice, goofy guy. He used to live in Dallas (where I live).
ReplyDeleteI just got my review copy of S&G last night. I’m sure I’ll have a lot to say about it. *diving in*

ReplyDeleteI just finished a first reading of Sigurd and Gudrun - very good and definately one that needs in-depth studying so will go back at it again. Will blog about it in a couple of weeks after more people have read. Great to talk on line the other night during the launch.
Thanks, Andy
NB: Would be good to put the Viking directions in the Fornayaldsagr meter that Tolkien wrote Sigurd and Gudrun in something like -
Left little lift the ship
Right reck and rear the boat
Forward face and ram the rost
straight sail the ship forward forth
Hi Andy! I really enjoyed talking with you online as well, however briefly — timezones! what’d’ya gonna do? Pieter deserves a lot of credit for organizing that online release party. It was, like your verse-craft (above), great fun. :)
ReplyDeleteI’ve finished reading the introductory material and am just getting started with “Völsungakviða en Nýja” now. More to come on the subject next week.
Viking didn't wear horned or winged helmets.
ReplyDeleteHistory fail.
This isn’t history, it’s humor. :)
